new life...

I love to find old chairs that are in need of a make-over,
It's a passion of mine.
(I like to think that I'm giving them a second chance in life ;)
I have already quite many chairs and I have completed
redecorating some of them, while others
are waiting for the right moment to
get their new look!

this time I began making the textile
(for me that's the fun part ;)

I painted the chair with ( just) one layer
of white primer and then I sanded
it down again to give it a used look,
to get the patina I used two colors
of wax.

I't needed a new cover badly,
first It got some white linen,
which I stabled on, and then
I made some loose cover over
the linen so it will be easy
to use and wash !

a new life !!!

the chair before...

I'm already looking forward for the next chair make-over!!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my blog.

pink challenge...

Choosing the "right" shade of pink can be
quite the challenge, but I must say the
choices in these photos are
spot on!!

Let's celebrate with a glorious pink ;)

big cupcake day...

It's been a while since my last post as I have been
away on holiday, it's so good to get away from all the
routine and just relax and enjoy life.

But two days before I left we had our big cupcake day in our town!!
Each year a small group of mothers/women/friends organize
a cupcake party in our botanical garden.
We asked people to bake cupcakes and bring them to us,
and we then sold them and donated the money to
our maternity ward in our local hospital.
This time, like the year before, it was a great day ;-)

Here are some beautiful photos taken by my sister (Agnes),
and my son (Viktor) from that day.

what a nice couple ;-)

we decorated with candles and lots
of pom poms ;-)

a real piece of art don't you think ?

wow, which one do I choose ??

We got hundreds of home baked beauties and we
where so thankful for all of them.

We had live music

and a great atmosphere in the park that day.

Happy girls at the end of a wonderful day.
( We raised more than 3000 euros!! ;)

THANK YOU ALL

pretty, prettier...?

I bought this white, plain (and pretty)
flower pot from Ikea store earlier
this ear, but I didn't use it!
Instead I found myself wanting to
make it "somehow prettier" ?!
So this is what I came up with... ;)

"Bladet" flower pot from Ikea

I had an old porcelain rose but it did
not have any leafs, so I made two leafs
using clay, and once dried, I glued it onto
the pot. I also glued around the top,
a plastic neckless!!

Then it was time for two
layers of good acrylic primer

and (only) one layer of
kalklitir/limecolors, using my
favorite gray (san saccaria)

The rose got some very soft pink color,
while the leafs got a little darker gray

Then some sanding was needed to
give it a smooth and "used" look

voila...
so much prettier..? ;D

boxing things up...

I made this box for the things we use in the kitchen,
things like olive oil, vinegar, salt & pepper etc.

This is what I did :

I bought some mdf...

and (simply) made a 36x43cm. box out of it...

in fact I made two boxes, so I still have one to go!
(I'm thinking pink box for perfume, jewelry etc.?)

I painted the box gray... ( my favorite color ;)

and I also bought these handles, which I painted
and decorated, using silver-leafs.

( my old pepper grinder got
the same makeover... )

(much nicer, don't you think?)

"voila"

Now I have all these things, that "fit together",
in one place.

Thank you for stopping by.
