big old chair...

I bought this big old chair on a flea market, only because it's so
incredible nice to sit in it (it wasn't the look, believe me ;).

I new it would have to be changed dramatically if I where to bring
it in to our all grey living room, but the good thing was, that the cover of
the chair was not damaged or torn so the challenge was to some
how change the look of the chair so it would fit in.

so this is what I did ;

It did take some time & work but now we all
love this big old comfortable chair so
much more.

Thank you for stopping by.

not just walls & ceilings...

Over the years I have used my Kalklitir/ lime-colors
on so many things in my house, other
than just walls and ceilings.

For example...

it's very easy to change a
plain terra cotta flower pot using lime,

and get old & weathered look on
a brand new basket...

Here you can see what some
acid wash & lime does to
new zinc buckets.

and it's always great to be able to change
beautiful candlesticks that have the right
style, but not the right color,
 into something you love.
(these where new & are made of wood)

(but this candleholder is old brass)

I've also changed the look and color of
of all kinds of furnitures and frames,
both old & new,

and even used it
in some art work I'm doing ;)

As you can see I love all grey colors, so I use them a lot,
( plus I often give things lime-wash, over the base color
to get that old and worn look that I like ;)

You can always mix your own beautiful shades of colors,
f.ex. by adding Ivory to a dark color like Doloriet,
Celadon secco or Winter secco.

Hope it has been inspiring and

how easy it is...

My Kalklitir/Lime colors are now available,
delivered in a white paper bag!!!
...and here you can see two videos on
how easy it is to mix and use ;)

beautiful colors to select from to use
on your walls, furnitures, etc.

on our walls,
(we used the color san saccaria).

on a chair to make a "patina"
( i.e. to look old and used).

here, a lime-wash was used on old wood
to make it look even older,
(lime-wash is lime color thinned down with water).

hand painted color swatches...

and it's environmentally friendly ;)

delivered in a white paper bag
(in powder form)

Here you can see how easy it is to mix...

and here to use on a wall...

btw. we are working on our new web page in english!!
(it will be ready soon, but until then it is only to be found
in our icelandic language ;)

having fun...

Wow, how time flies by when you are having fun!
These past weeks, I've been busy
in my workshop
hand painting roses on textiles (linen, cotton etc.).
I really, really love doing this,
The next step is to get one good
seamstress I know to do her magic,
(e.i. make it into pillows)

I'm always mixing up new colors
to try out

beautiful samples of silk, taft,
velour etc. are just about all
over the place right now!

color testing..

when ever I'm working, he's there,
and he's always so cool :)

Now I'm planing to put up a small
pillow/show in my workshop
( and hopefully sell one or two ;)

Thank you for stopping by.

White linen pillows...

New crispy white linen pillows with our initials
hand painted on them! I´m still working on
my "new bedroom look" and this is what
came out of last days work. I must say
things have been running rather
slow around here, but
I do love when I get things done!!

A (new) lamp shade also got a make over

(These hand painted boxes, I did
some years ago, fit well in the room now
plus they are great for storing things,
like summer shoe's... ;)

I still have some things to do
before I'm finished, but I
am getting there ;)

keep on lighting the candles...

I bought this hanging candle holder just before
Christmas and I decorated it with pine branches
and red ribbon. We used it a lot so I just couldn't
take it down with everything else and put it in
the storage for next time!

instead I re-decorated it using
white feathers and paper flowers

here in Iceland,
there are still a few months until we will start
seeing longer days with spring flowers

so I will keep on lighting the candles

and looking forward to the spring!
