glue & glitter...

I'm using copies from old wallpaper again, but this time
to decorate old and rather ugly metal trash can,
(but trying to make it look vintage ;)
& gluing carrara marble glitter
(martha stewart)on things to use
for christmas decorations,
so
glue & glitter all over the place now!

blue is new...

Blue colors against my lime painted (grey) walls!!
I've never used blue like this before in my home so this is something new for me :)

these blue decoupage plates are some of my resent work
(I've been working on some beautiful old wallpaper cuts form about 1800)

So these days I've been redecorating, adding something new
but also moving old things around in my house.
(Will be posting more photos)

Have a nice weekend...

faux vintage...

I have been doing decoupage for many years, so I'm always
working with a lot of copies from books, old wallpaper cuts, etc...
But now, my son has been teaching me how to work on my photos in
Adobe Illustrator, and though I still print them out and make them
"old" by hand, this has opened up new and exciting ways
to  decorate object's.
Learning something new is great!!

I can honestly say that I love the shabby/vintage style,
and even though these jars are "faux vintage"
I will enjoy making more of them ;)

so pretty again...

One coat of acrylic primer
sand it down again (using very fine sand paper)
a coat of grey furniture wax (rub it on and buff it out)
and a new toile de jouy fabric

Just a day's work and voila!!
....so pretty again

bunch of roses...

I found a great tutorial on how to make gorgeous
coffee filter roses on a blog called the white bench.
And when my friends saw the once I had made, they
also wanted to learn how to make them.
So we decided to have a genuine girly time
one evening and make bunch of roses.

We were all so busy cutting, gluing coloring etc. that we
hardly had time for the cupcakes, delicious chocolate cake
or the rose wine!!!

But we did have a great FUN

thank you Monica...

2000 divine cupcakes...

Our third "mömmur og möfffins" party (mothers&cupcakes party)
took place at our botanical garden on a sunny Saturday the 4th. of August.
It was a great success and we are so thankful to all the mothers that baked for
us, for this annual charity event.  We received over 2000 divine cupcakes,
and they where all sold out in mere 30 minutes!!!!
We where hoping to race at least 5000 euros, and yes, we did!!!
(we got 5500 euros ;)
Like the two previous years, the money goes to the maternity ward
at our local hospital, and this time it will be used to buy a special
resuscitation table for premature babies.

this time, me and my two daughters baked 150 cupcakes  :)

and of course we made lots of pom poms...

just look at all the beautiful cupcakes we received...

happy

smiling

girls, everywhere...

and all these beautiful girls helped selling the cupcakes,
and we also had life music
and everybody gave their work to support the event...

we also auctioned an oil painting, made by one great artist
in our group... and that was a lot of fun!!

it was such a perfect day, and hopefully we will continue
to do this for years to come...

smile and have a cupcake...

and now its off to a Spanish island for our family summer vacation ;)
